The National Fraternal Order of Police is the world’s largest organization of sworn law enforcement officers, with more than 377,000 members in more than 2,200 lodges. We are the voice of those who dedicate their lives to protecting and serving our communities. We are committed to improving the working conditions of law enforcement officers and the safety of those we serve through education, legislation, information, community involvement and employee representation. No one knows the dangers and the difficulties faced by today’s police officers better than another officer, and no one knows police officers better than the NFOP.

The Fraternal Order of Police is the largest and oldest law enforcement labor organization in the United States. Since 1993, the FOP has maintained a National Legislative Office, known as the Steve Young Law Enforcement Legislative Advocacy Center, on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., with a full-time professional staff that actively lobbies all components of the federal government—from Congress to federal departments to the White House—on public safety and policing issues.
Under the leadership of the last five National presidents and its executive director, the FOP has established itself as the nation’s most prominent voice for law enforcement and our rank-and-file members. Together with the National Legislative Committee, the Center operates the FOP’s Grassroots Action Network to establish and strengthen relationships on Capitol Hill. The Center’s staff maintains and expands these relationships by amplifying the voices of rank-and-file officers in all the halls of power in Washington, D.C.

The National Officer Wellness Committee is composed of active and retired members of law enforcement who all share a secondary background in crisis intervention, hostage negotiation, or psychology. In addition, the Committee is assisted by five subcommittees focusing on research, legislative and policy development, provider evaluation, training, and liaisons with partner organizations. The work of the committee is further supported by a Professional Advisory Panel of practicing clinicians in police psychology.
In times of crisis, the NFOP wants to ensure that each officer has a competent place to turn for help. The Officer Wellness Committee engages in a thorough vetting process of available resources, and has deemed these hotlines vetted and approved for our members.
